Waterfront Ride

This ride follows Rocks Road along the waterfront and returns via the Nelson Marina.

Distance 11km

Start Millers Acre - cross Trafalgar Street from the "Reef Knot" sculpture and take the Maitai Walkway alongside the river to the front entrance of the Trafalgar Centre. Cross the footbridge over Saltwater Creek to the pedestrian crossing on Haven Road. Cross here and join the on-road cycle lanes to Tahunanui Reserve.  Return the same way via the cycleway along Rocks Road and Wakefield Quay. At Hay Street turn left into the port area, then right into Wildman Ave through the roundabout to veer left at Akersten Street. Ride alongside the Nelson Marina - return down Akersten Street and take a left turn onto the marked walkway that returns to the city under the QE11 Drive bridge, then cross another Saltwater Creek Footbridge back along the Maitai River Walkway to the start.

Trafalgar Cycleway

This ride uses the Trafalgar Cycleway and takes you past Founders Heritage Park and the Miyazu Japanese Gardens.

Distance 4.8km

Start by the river at Miller Acre - take the shared path along the river to the  Collingwood Street Bridge. Cross the bridge and head down Collingwood Street, straight ahead into Sovereign Street, over the railway tracks and right onto the Trafalgar Cycleway near Grove Station. The cycleway continues alongside QE11 Drive and you end up at Atawhai Drive. Options here include: crossing Atawhai Drive and taking the steep road through the back gate of the Wakapuaka Cemetery, or leaving your bike  for a walk around the Miyazu Gardens or explore Nelson's history at Founders Park. Return the way you came .
