Alex Pall is one half of the hit making musical duo, The Chainsmokers, and after the release of “Closer,” he sat down to conduct an interview with Interview Magazine. If you haven’t heard of The Chainsmokers you have probably still heard their songs. For the last three years, The Chainsmokers have been releasing hit after hit, breaking Billboard records.
The interview began by asking Alex Pall how he met his partner, Andrew Taggart. Alex explained that the two of them were introduced by a mutual acquaintance, Pall’s manager.
Andrew Taggart was still living in Maine at the time, but he drove straight down to New York in order to meet Alex Pall.
Pall explained that after he met Andrew Taggart, both of them knew right away that they were in store for a successful music run. The two of them noticed the ambition that was present in each other, and they began to work all day, everyday in order to churn out hit after hit; Pall said that is wasn’t unusual for he and Taggart to work from 9 in the morning until 7 at night.
Prior to the song “Closer,” neither of The Chainsmokers sang the vocals on their songs. Therefore, “Closer” represents a drastic change in their music making process. Andrew Taggart has stepped in front of the microphone, joining Halsey in providing the vocals for the new track.
This is an important step forward for The Chainsmokers. Pall and Taggart talked about how at their live shows a speaker would provide the vocals because the artists they work with are far too busy to accompany Taggart and Pall on tour. With Taggart acting as the front man, The Chainsmokers have eliminated this issues, increasing the quality of the show.
Moving forward, The Chainsmokers are sure to have a long list of future plans to continue to innovate and create new music.
